It has been 12.5 months since my hip replacement surgery performed by Dr. D. Johnson at Holland Hospital. I can say, without reservation, that the care and attention that I received from every person in his office and the hospital was outstanding. From pre-surgery preparation, surgery, and post operation recovery my experience was amazing. All my questions were answered with patience and detail, no question too small. Healing came fast and little or no pain. In two months, I was back to spin class, no problems, no pain!

Dr. Johnson and his team replaced both my hips in 2018 and I couldn’t be happier. These guys are a well-oiled team and they know very well what they are doing. I’d highly recommend them to anybody. Thanks Doc – I’m dancing the hula pain-free nowadays.

Iʼm very happy with the results of the anterior hip replacement. Very happy. I was ʻbone to boneʼ and had injections for pain. Iʼve jumped off fire trucks and rode ladders once too much I guess. Finally, I had to do something and my doctor referred me to a Grand Rapids practice; they couldnʼt see me for 4 to 6 months. Thatʼs when a neighbor told me about two young doctors at the Holland Bone and Joint Center with a special table for less invasive surgery. Gave me a big book on it plus we searched the internet. Well, they spread the tissue and go in between. All I know is that I came back out of it in good shape, with excellent recovery and therapy. I would and do highly recommend them.

I had an anterior hip replacement in Florida in 2009 and had an amazing experience and recovery. The problem…my new hip was metal on metal. In 2011 I began to experience growing discomfort with my new hip. When I saw Dr. Johnson he cautiously progressed through the steps to determine if my body was reacting to the metal on metal. Once it was determined that it was the probable cause, he discussed the pros and cons of another surgery with me. The resulting surgery made a huge difference and my recovery was quick and relatively pain free and I was back into my routines and activities in a couple of weeks. His staff and that of Holland Hospital were awesome. I appreciated the fact that I wasn’t rushed into a new surgery and had all of the facts before proceeding. I am a raving fan as are the others whom I have referred to the Bone and Joint Center!

Since I have been living the past forty years in the Tri-Cities area of Michigan, I was not aware of the medical services available in the area of Holland, Michigan. It wasn’t until I needed a hip replacement that my search began for the right surgeon and the right hospital. After many months of investigation it was my decision to have the procedure done at Holland Hospital with Dr. Derick Johnson of the Bone & Joint Center performing the surgery. My care at Holland Hospital was the best from beginning to end. I can’t thank the hospital and its staff enough for all they did for me. The surgical team under the leadership of Dr. Johnson was A-1. His surgical techniques allow one to return quickly to a life of walking like we did in the “good old days.” So be very “Thankful” Holland that you have something this special located in your medical community.
